Silver Eagle Store
The American Silver Eagle was authorized by Congress in 1985 and first issued by the United States Mint in 1986. Each coin is struck in one troy ounce of 99.9% pure silver. Silver Eagles have become popular around the world for precious metals investing and collecting.

The beautiful designs of the coins have contributed to their success. Portrayed on the front of the coin is a stunning rendition of Liberty, originally designed by Adolph A. Weinman for the Walking Liberty Half Dollar. Liberty holds a bouquet of olive branches and has a flag draped across her shoulders, as she strides confidently forward towards a rising sun.
A design created by John Mercanti is used for the back of the coin. It features a depiction of the heraldic eagle. A bald eagle is shown with a shield over its chest and a bundle of arrows and an olive branch grasped in each talon. A ribbon with the motto "In God We Trust" is in the eagle's beak and thirteen stars appear above.

The Silver Eagle has been issued in bullion coin format as well as several different options for collectors. The collector coins have included proof versions struck from 1986 to 2008 and uncirculated versions struck from 2006 to 2008. Special issues of the series have included the low mintage 1995-W Proof Silver Eagle included within the 10th Anniversary Gold Eagle Set, and the 2006 Reverse Proof Silver Eagle included within the 20th Anniversary Silver Eagle Set.
Further information on the Silver Eagle is available on this site for collectors of the series and precious metals investors. A broad selection of American Silver Eagles available for sale for each year of issue is also presented.
